Jagex says job cuts are “unrelated” to cancelled undertaking

RuneScape maker Jagex has stated that the wave of layoffs on the firm are “unrelated” to Challenge Zanaris, which was axed not too long ago.

In an announcement to GI.bizthe agency emphasised that the job cuts introduced earlier this week are primarily inside non-development or player-facing roles, although some builders – together with beloved workers like Mod Timbo – seem to have left.

Challenge Zanaris was an effort to develop group servers for Previous Faculty RuneScape. It was introduced throughout the summer season of 2024 and cancelled in a weblog put up earlier this month.

“As a part of our technique to construct one of the best experiences for gamers and develop the RuneScape group, we’ve proposed modifications to our operational construction,” a Jagex rep stated.
